Pictures Into Sounds

Mussorgsky/Ravel, Caplet and Dvořák

Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition', in its spectacular orchestration by Ravel, is the centrepiece in a programme of music inspired by images of Old Russia, Persia and Bohemia. André Caplet's 'Suite Persane' for winds opens the concert, followed by Dvořák's Serenade for Strings; Mussorgsky brings the programme to a magnificent climax.

In its spring concert at West Road, the Sinfonia of Cambridge is once again conducted by its Musical Director, Howard Williams.
