As usual we feature a concert with a feast of wonderful music, this time with the romantic Mendelssohn Fingal’s Cave’ overture, the splendid Dvorak: Czech Suite op.39 (five lyrical and contrasting movements), the evocative Crusell; Clarinet concerto no.2 (soloist: David Carter) and the Cambridge Premier of Pounds: Symphony no.3. (This symphony is featured on a Chandos CD released in February, conducted by John Wilson with the Sinfonia of London, together with works by Ravel and also Lennox Berkley with whom Pounds studied. The CD, and particularly the Symphony have received excellent reviews.)
The concert is conducted by Adam Pounds in the beautiful setting of Great St. Mary’s.
