The East Anglia Chamber Orchestra returns to The West Road Concert Hall with a delightful programme, featuring two symphonies and no less than four soloists.

Under the baton of the gifted and inspiring Andrew Watkinson, the concert will begin with the well-known and well-loved Unfinished Symphony.  Having completed two sublime movements, was Schubert unable to imagine a finale for his B minor symphony?  Or is it perfect as it is?

We are then joined by our four wind soloists for the Sinfonia Concertante in Eb.  Whether or not this piece was composed by Mozart for his visit to Paris in 1778 (the score of which was stolen) and reworked later, or re-imagined by Jahn in 1867, the work is attractive and continues to engage audiences.

Our programme concludes with Mendelssohn's Fifth Symphony.  Despite its number, this symphony is an exuberantly youthful work, written in 1830, when the composer was only twenty.  Inspired by Bach, Haydn and Mozart, the symphony is richly contrapuntal and masterfully crafted.  Written to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession, it is known as the Reformation Symphony.

Join us for an exciting and inspiring evening of music-making.
