Acclaimed as one of the greatest interpreters of the Classical and Romantic repertories, Portuguese pianist Maria-João Pires is an artist who combines exquisite stylistic refinement with a serious effort to plumb the intellectual complexities and spiritual depths of music. She has performed with the major European and American orchestras, and has recorded exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 1989.
Born in Belgrade in 1985, Miloš Popovič has worked closely with Maria João Pires since 2014 as an integral member of Pires’s Partitura project, an altruistic approach to sharing knowledge between artists of different generations. A successful soloist and chamber musician in his own right, Popovič has performed at festivals such s the Menuhin Gstaad Festival and with orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra.
