Glière Harp Concerto
Tchaikovsky Symphony No.6 (Pathétique)

Harp: Valeria Kurbatova

A programme of romantic Russian music, opening with the rousing overture to Borodin’s popular opera Prince Igor, followed by one of Liadov’s best known works, Baba Yaga, a tone poem based on Russian legend. Glière’s lyrical, 20th century Harp Concerto showcases this beautiful instrument, before Tchaikovsky’s final symphony, widely-regarded as his greatest, the ‘Pathétique’ concludes the evening with its intense finale.
