The Choir of St John’s College and The Gesualdo Six unite for a special concert in the beautiful Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church.
The Choir of St John’s College is one of the finest collegiate choirs in the world – known and loved by millions from its broadcasts, concert tours and recordings. Founded in the 1670s, the Choir is known for its rich, warm and distinctive sound, its expressive interpretations and its ability to sing in a variety of styles under the direction of Christopher Gray.
Led by Owain Park, The Gesualdo Six is an award-winning British vocal ensemble, featuring St John's College Choir alumni Alasdair Austin and Joseph Wicks.
The programme pays tribute to three towering figures of choral music: Orlando Gibbons, marking 400 years since his passing; Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, celebrating 500 years since his birth; and Charles Villiers Stanford, whose legacy includes designing OLEM’s organ.
